Digital scans of traditional artwork modified for use in a variety of ways.
Creating or converting traditional art into digital images opens a lot of possiblities for using that art. In the past I have created cards, prints, scrapbooking art, notepads, stickers and even screen-printed images on fabric for use in textile art.
Embroidered and engraved products will soon be available at my Wylde-Gifts Etsy store.
3d printers and laser engraving.
My husband has been getting into 3d printing and laser cutting/engraving. It has been really fun to explore what these new tools can do. I absolutely love the way my pen and ink drawings look burned into wood. I can easily see these as wall art, coasters, magnets and more.
Seamless textures and coordinating designs work great for a variety of projects.
Embroidery Designs
After my kids were born I found that I couldn't do much pen and ink art any more - too easy to spill ink, too little time or patience for intricate drawings. Instead I found an alternative medium for my creativity - creating embroidery designs for commercial and home embroidery machines. Originally the idea was to convert my drawings into embroidery designs, but digitizing software at the time was not very good for easy conversion. Instead I found myself learning to digitize everyting from scratch and discovered I could achieve a some really amazing effects with thread and the mental process was surprisingly similar in many ways to my ink drawings.
Embroidery software has come a long way since I started out, but I still manually digitize my designs, and now I am starting to go back to my original drawings and use them as inspiration for new designs.
These days, there are even more amazing possibilities with
Print on Demand options for all kinds of products.
Today you can print and cut vinyl for walls, make heat transfer designs and much more.
These designs and more are available in most home and commercial embroidery machine formats at:
Once Upon A Stitch
I also have a select few availabe up in my
OnceUponAStitchEmb
Etsy Store
I use traditional drawings, photos, and 3d art renders to create my embroidery designs, but lately I am also toying with ai art renders as possible sources of ideas.
